SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Technical Services Manager, the tool room coordinator organizes the activities of the technical service specialists in tool and die making and model making.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. This list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary from time to time.

  • Coordinate the activities of the tool & die makers
  • Responsible for department timecards, work orders, and vacation scheduling
  • Determine the material needs and purchase needed supplies for the tool room department
  • Maintain all McLaughlin and customer owned tooling records
  • Manage all tooling requests and maintenance forms by priority level
  • Compile information, such as production progress, materials inventories, and materials used, so that status reports can be completed
  • Requisition and maintain inventories of materials and supplies necessary to meet production demands.
  • Communicate status of tooling projects to Department Manager
  • Ensure the employee has all required PPE (glasses, hearing protection and footwear) necessary for the assigned task and understands who and where to get replacements
  • Explain how and where to get consumables necessary to the process
  • Explain how and where to get all documents associated with the assigned task and requirements to complete forms properly
  • Maintains orderly work area and also documentation

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: Requires four years of high school diploma or equivalent.

 

TECHNICAL SKILLS: Must have proficient computer skills, specifically in Microsoft Office applications. Experience with ProE/Creo is highly preferred.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and personnel policies and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, executives, government agencies and other employees of the organization.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as overtime, proportions, and percentages. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and statistics.

 

 

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts, in outside weather conditions, performs work related travel and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, occasionally loud.  Required PPE: When in the production facility; Safety glasses w/ side shields and protective footwear with steel toe are required.  Hearing protection is required in designated areas.
